The Fabric House came about due to a necessity and a demand from both the trade and retail sectors for an outlet that sourced and sold exotic and high-end furnishing fabrics at reasonable price points.

Nigel Lardner-Burke, the owner and originator of the concept, has enjoyed 25 years with The Fabric Library as their agent representing Cape Town. The concept is based on his ability to source and find these high-end fabrics, locally and from around the globe, within a reasonable price range. The shop offers good quality, furnishing base cloths, hand-picked short ends, exotic remnants and end of roll soft furnishing fabrics.

The current furnishing trend is to select an affordable quality base cloth in the colour and texture of your choice. The Fabric House then guides you through the fabric selection process, in order that your couch or sofa has a base fabric that will go the distance in terms of style, quality, abrasion, cleaning methods etc. Once you have the quality base cloth, it allows you to select an array of exotic fabrics as the scatter cushions. This enables you to ‘change’ your look, colour or trend whenever you feel like it. A summer or winter scheme, or changing just one cushion, can lift the entire room.

The Fabric House is situated in the middle of the very trendy Woodstock business hub. There are 10 safe parking bays directly outside the shop.

We stock fabrics from every corner of the globe. The selection available is vast and exciting. We are constantly updating our ranges with the latest trends in design and fabrics. We have relationships with the leading Fabric Houses in South Africa and as a result we have our fingers on the pulse of all the latest ranges. We have linens imported all the way from Belgium, Poland, Russia & Ireland, to name a few.
